Does not fit, or no data (6)

Golf Room Fit is a guide, not a guarantee. Figures are what the maker or a retailer publishes, and we have not tested any product. Measure your room twice, swing a club in the space, and check the maker's own page before you buy.

How to measure your room

  1. Width: wall to wall at the spot where you will hit, between anything that sticks out.
  2. Depth: the long way, from the back wall to the wall the screen will face.
  3. Ceiling: floor to the lowest object over the swing. Fans, lights, ducts and garage door tracks count.
  4. Your height in inches. Add the thickness of any mat or platform in the build-up field.
  5. Pick one launch monitor or compare all, then read the plan and the table.

How the calculator decides

  1. Ceiling. It takes any mat off the room height, then compares what is left with your height plus 36 to 48 inches, the club at the top of the swing. The larger of that and the maker figure is the bar.
  2. Depth. It uses the stated room depth, or the distance behind the ball plus the ball to screen distance plus 1.64 ft behind the screen, whichever is larger.
  3. Width. It uses the published width. Some makers ask for more for tall golfers, or when right and left handers share the room.
  4. Verdict. Each dimension is fits, tight (above the minimum, below the recommendation), too small, or not published. The whole result is the worst of them. A gap is never turned into a pass or a fail.

Width runs across the room. Depth runs from the back wall toward the screen.

Questions about the calculator

How big a room does a golf simulator need?
Ceiling: your height plus 36 inches at the least, plus 48 inches for a driver. A golfer of 5 ft 10 in wants 8.83 ft to 9.83 ft. Depth: the calculator uses figures from 10 ft to 17.64 ft across the 11 monitors with depth data. Width: 6 ft to 15 ft as a minimum where a maker or retailer gives one. See the monitor table.
Is an 8 ft ceiling enough for a golf simulator?
On the 36 inch rule, an 8 ft ceiling clears a golfer up to 5 ft 0 in. A golfer of 5 ft 10 in needs 8.83 ft at the least. A mat or platform lowers the ceiling further. Measure to the lowest point over the swing. See the ceiling height guide.
Where do the space figures come from?
From launch monitor makers and from retailers that publish room guides. Each monitor page says which figure came from which kind of page and links the source. See the methodology.
Has Golf Room Fit tested these products?
No. The result is arithmetic on published figures. Measure your room twice and swing a club in the space before you buy.
What does tight mean?
Your room meets the lowest published figure and falls short of the recommended one. The monitor should work with less margin, and the swing or the readings may suffer.
Why does a row say not published?
No source we read gives that figure. We show the gap and never count it as a pass or a fail.
Are the room sizes sent anywhere?
No. The calculation runs in your browser. Your inputs sit in the page address so you can share a result. We record coarse outcomes only, never the size of your room.
Does price or a commission change the order?
No. Monitors that fit come first, then tight ones, then by name. See how we make money.
